Google Social to Compete Facebook, Twitter
In the world where Social networks prevail, why should Google be left behind?
Google is now panning to set the next big thing. WSJ reports that Google will get involved into social networks with Status updates from various services.
This is not the first attempt. Google has tried “Google Social”, “Google Friend Connect”, “Orkut” and others which had been of little success.
Google now wants to rewrite the strategy using it’s existing services. Gmail already lets its users update their status – kind of. The new social initiative will leverage Gmail with timeline-view of status updates just like popular MySpace, Facebook and Twitter..
UPDATE: LIVE Video is available here
According to WSJ, All Google services: Apps, YouTube and Picasa will be integrated into the feed/stream.
Google could probably end-up adding All popular social networks into the stream. (Twitter + Facebook)
Or it may monopolize within it’s own services which are already popular and widely used.
As Mashable reports, it could be launching as early as tomorrow.
We have just received an invite to attend an event at Google’s headquarters where they will be “unveiling some product innovations in two of [their] most popular products.”
Co-incidently description fits very well with the WSJ report. Gmail is one of Google’s most popular products, and this new social status update feature would be a “product innovation” within Gmail.
More on this, the event begins at 10:00 a.m. PT tomorrow. Stay tuned.
